Introduction to Sashiko

All levels are welcome. No experience required.
Come learn Sashiko, one of the easiest and most beautiful forms of embroidery! Quickly pick up simple yet elegant stitches and work on a traditional Japanese patterned sampler that you can turn into a pillowcase with only three straight seams. We’ll stitch with white cotton cloth on indigo dyed cotton fabric, both of which allow you to choose from a variety of patterns and effects. No previous needlework experience required.
All materials are included with $20 PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop.

Jess Kaufman has an MA in crafts education and is the owner of WAXON Batik & Dye Studio in Asheville, NC. With 20+ years of teaching experience, Jess has taught textile and fiber arts to summer campers, school children, high schoolers, and adults up and down the East Coast. Her enthusiasm for teaching is apparent in every class she leads. Formerly, she founded HappyGoCrafty.com, teaching knitting and other crafts in New York City and North Carolina.
