Get To Know Your Sewing Machine

Ages: Adult (18 and up)
All levels are welcome. No experience required.
Student Supplies:
- Note taking materials.
- Bring your own sewing machine or use a classroom machine.
Start with the absolute basics: how to thread and set up a machine, understand its various features, and explore basic construction techniques. We will also talk about the tools commonly used in sewing. Sew a drawstring bag as your first sewing project. If you ever wanted to learn how to sew (or need a refresher course!) This is the class for you! Bring your own machine or feel free to work on a class machine.
There will be a 1-hour lunch break. Bring a lunch or explore local dining options.
All materials are included with a $5 PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop.

About Instructor:
Ann Tilley is a textile artist, clothing designer and teacher who lives in Liberty, North Carolina. She maintains a studio art practice, working in color knitting. Tilley earned her BFA in Fashion and Fibers at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. She has also worked in a variety of small-scale garment studios and factories, including two eponymous clothing lines. Her teaching style blends disciplined production techniques with home-sewing freedom and playfulness.
