Charlie Beck took his banjo and guitar and, at a young age, left his Indiana home for Seattle. In 2003, he became a founding member of The Tallboys String Band. Soon after, he met his future wife, Charmaine Slaven, and they formed the duo Squirrel Butter. Charlie plays banjo in clawhammer and finger picking styles with great skill, creativity, and rhythm. His love of old-time, bluegrass, country, blues, and jazz inspires both his playing and avid songwriting. He has performed and/or taught at: A Prairie Home Companion, Bumbershoot, Pickathon, Nimble Fingers, Moose Jaw Festival, and Boston's Christmas Revels.
