Naturally Inspired: Paper Making

Adult (18+)

All levels are welcome. No experience required.

Join us for a hands-on paper making journey using local plant fibers. Discover how to cook down plant ingredients, pound fibers, and mix pulps to pull beautiful sheets of paper using a mold and deckle box. Explore how to create papers with materials added to the pulp, including natural dyes such as indigo, turmeric, hibiscus, black walnut, chestnut, and other plant colorants. Use your creations for printing, drawing, writing, bookmaking and so much more.    

 There will be a 30-minute lunch break. Bring a lunch or explore local dining options.   

All materials are included with a $20 PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop. 

*Payment by cash or check is required for materials fees. 

Student Supply List: 

 * Please wear closed-toed shoes and clothes suitable for getting messy.

  • Towel
  • One pair of new, long rubber dishwashing gloves 
  • Note-taking materials (optional)
  • Apron (optional)

 Catherine Cross Tsintzos is an artist who uses her knowledge and experience with her practice to create within the realms of both interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary components for outcomes that focus on environmental and social issues, traditional fine craft and sustainability. She has a clear purpose in building and crossing bridges among the arts with a deep focus and balance between artistic practice, teaching, activism and invitation for participation.
