Supplies list for students to bring:
- Watercolor pad, 9”x12” spiral bound pad, 140 lb. watercolor paper (available at Olive’s Porch).
- Watercolor brushes: one, 1” flat and one round, recommended range: #8-#10. Available at Olive’s Porch. If you bring your own, make sure they are watercolor brushes in good condition.
- Professional tube watercolors are needed for the workshop exercises.
- Winsor & Newton professional watercolors are available at Olive’s Porch. Or, you may already have other brands. I’ll be using a variety of brands. Below are two primary triad options. You only need one option for the workshop:
- Option 1: French Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Red, New Gamboge
- Option 2: Permanent Rose, Winsor Lemon, Winsor Blue/Green Shade
- Roll of paper towels
- Quart size container for water
- Pencil
- Kneaded eraser (available at Olive’s Porch)
- Paper and pen for taking notes.
- Foam tray with sections, ex: Hefty Everyday, for use as a palette.
- Large Ziploc bag that foam tray can slip into
So many color choices can be confusing. Guessing or using too many often yields disappointing results. Here’s an opportunity to participate in simple color mixing exercises using a primary triad. You’ll have fun creating harmonious color blends using red, yellow and blue while learning to distinguish value, intensity and color temperature. We will not be working on or completing a painting, but this foundational practice will prove to be an invaluable resource along your watercolor journey.
Instructor provided materials are included with an estimated $0 FEE PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop. Material fees may change depending on the number of participants and price of materials at the workshop. *Payment by cash or check is required for materials fees.
* Workshops are subject to low enrollment cancellation if the minimum number of 4 students is not reached. You can check enrollment listed below the workshop photo. We do update these manually so if you have any questions, you’re welcome to call Olive’s Porch for more information.
