Willow Hearth & Gathering Basket

Regular price $150.00
Regular price Sale price $150.00

Instructor: Mark Hendry

Weekend: April 1 & 2

10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Ages: 15+

All levels are welcome. No experience required, just some hand strength.

Spend a weekend weaving with willow and learn to create a traditional rib-style hearth and gathering basket. This "work horse" of a basket is so light to carry but still sturdy enough to hold firewood! Students will use several varieties of locally and sustainably sourced and harvested willow. We’ll also learn to work with frozen, reconstituted, and fresh willow so that new basket makers experience how to work with any variation of the material. Discussions will also include how to grow and harvest your own willow.

There will be a 30-minute lunch break. Bring a sack lunch or explore local dining options.

All materials are included in the Materials Kit Fee of $100 PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop.

*Payment by cash or check is required for materials fees.

*Masks are recommended, but not required while participating in a workshop or event.
