Woven Winter Ornaments

Ages: Adult (18 and up)

All levels are welcome. No experience required.

Student Supplies:

  • Note taking materials.
  • Apron or clothes that can get dirty.

Make festive woven ornaments featuring Georgia Snowflakes and Woven Reindeer. Using natural reed and basic weaving construction, students will make intricate snowflakes of varying designs which can be hung as wintery décor or used as festive tree ornaments. By following clear step-by-step instructions, students will also learn to weave flat reed into adorable reindeer. With a little red glitter, you can even have Rudolf lead the way.

There will be a 1-hour lunch break. Bring a lunch or explore local dining options.   

All materials are included with a $25 PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop.

 About Instructor:

Mark Hendry is a full-time artisan specializing in historic handcraft with a focus on using natural materials. With over 30 years of experience as a professional teacher of fine and performing arts, both in private, public, and magnet schools, Mark travels throughout the country teaching all levels and ages. He teaches regularly for the John C. Campbell Folk School & Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, is a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild, and is currently the director and resident artist for Mountain Heritage Handcraft, located in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
