Community Events are grant funded and offered at no charge unless otherwise noted in the event listing. Most events are held at Olive’s Porch unless otherwise noted in the event description.

JAM Holliday Ukulele with Heidi Swedberg & Daniel Ward
5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
The Folk School's Junior Appalachian Musicians program presents a special holiday ukulele class! Youth aged 12-18 based in Cherokee or Clay Counties can participate and earn a free ukulele to take home! Instructors Heidi Swedberg & Daniel Ward will teach some easy international holiday songs and chords on the ukulele. No cost for this fun, after-school music program! Sponsored by the John C. Campbell Folk School, NC Arts Traditional Arts Programs for Students Grant, and the Wayne Henderson Music Festival Scholarship.

Join Artist in Residence Bonnie Lenneman for a casual gathering to sip herbal tea and chat in her studio at Olive's Porch! People for millennia across countless cultures have gathered around herbal tea to share stories and build community. Come talk about plants, foraging, medicine making, or just whatever is going on in our lives.

Community Carving Night with Brasstown Carver Richard Carter.
5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
Learn to carve a simple ornament and experience the storied tradition of the Brasstown Carvers! Ages 10+ may participate. No experience is required. Tools, materials, and protective equipment provided.
