Intro to Inkle Loom Weaving

Ages: Adults (18 and up)

All levels are welcome. No experience required.

Students Please Bring:

  • Note taking materials.
  • (Optional) A snack and/or water bottle. Filtered water is available in the classroom.
  • All equipment will be provided, but if you already have an inkle loom, belt shuttle, and scissors, feel free to bring them.

Start your weaving journey with learning how to weave small bands on an inkle loom. Inkle bands can be used as shoelaces, guitar straps, watchbands, and more; the possibilities are endless! Learn the basics of using this portable style of band loom, including warping, reading a pattern, and weaving. Come as a beginner and leave with samples or one small, finished project, as well as the knowledge to continue weaving on your own.

All materials are included with a $10 FEE PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop. *Payment by cash or check is required for materials fees. 

About Instructor: Allie Dudley (they/them) is a textile artist working primarily in weaving and stitching. Their work originates in historical textiles, drawing on Appalachian coverlets and antique stitching samplers. They combine analog and digital processes with historical techniques to pull the threads of these techniques from the past into the present. Allie is currently working as the Textiles and Natural Fibers coordinator at John C. Campbell Folk School, and is living and weaving in Murphy, NC.
