Ages: Intergenerational (16 and up)

All levels are welcome. No experience required.

Students Please Bring:

  • Note taking materials.
  • (Optional) A snack and/or water bottle. Filtered water is available in the classroom.

Learn how to make soft and colorful mushroom decorations using a specialized barbed needle to sculpt beautiful, dyed wool. Create these three-dimensional forms with textured details and develop the foundational skills to continue needle felting at home. Come away with one or more completed mushrooms to keep or give as a gift.

All materials are included with a $20 FEE PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop. *Payment by cash or check is required for materials fees. 

About Instructor: Ari is an illustrator, fiber artist, and crafter-of-many-trades. They have a BA in Fine Arts from Flagler College and have been teaching art and craft in various capacities since 2005. Ari is a two-time work study student at John C. Campbell Folk School. They usually live at Twin Oaks, a large rural income-sharing community in Central Virginia with a focus on sustainability and skill sharing. They love fiber work as an accessible, practical, and affordable art form that brings folks together, as well as being something to do during meetings!
