Ages: 16 and up. Minors must have a parent registered for the same workshop and present throughout in order to participate.

All levels are welcome. No experience required.

Students Please Bring:

  • Students can bring any reading glasses, magnification or lighting tools to assist with this detailed work. Olive’s Porch does have Ott Lights available for use.
  • Note taking materials.
  • (Optional) A snack and/or water bottle. Filtered water is available in the classroom.

We will learn the basics of a pictorial needlelace style within this pumpkin pattern. Students will learn the process of creating a full needle lace piece from preparing the pattern, to laying a cordenette thread, several stitches, and how to remove the lace for finishing! Students will receive the materials used in class as well as the information to stitch the pumpkin again & again!

An additional fee for materials provided by your instructor for this workshop is estimated at $15.00 THIS FEE IS PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop. Material fees may change depending on the number of participants and price of materials at the workshop. *Payment by cash or check is required for materials fees.

About Instructor: Sarah Roberts is a heritage textile artist and instructor based in the neighborhood of East Atlanta. For over a decade, she has been practicing and teaching surface hand embroidery, often focusing on how craft can take such an intimate place in our lives. While Sarah is primarily self-taught, she has studied with San Francisco School of Needlework & Design and is currently enrolled with Royal School of Needlework. She also studies needle lace, bobbin lace, crochet, and sewing. And is a member of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America and the International Org. Of Lace, Inc. Sarah holds a B.A. in History from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA.
