I consider the act of collecting materials like drawing. Always rooted in my own life and experiences, the materials I collect for collage are a record of my life. Receipts, newspapers, gift wrapping, photos, pages from books, and cut up scraps of fabric, are all things I have used in my collages. What can you learn about an artist by the materials they use? Together we will discuss the history of collage and how artists have used this process to embed personal narratives or hidden meanings into their art. We will use these personally sourced materials to create a collage of a home, a landscape, or a place that is important to us. Using basic drawing materials, we will add and subtract from our collages, transforming them into an autobiographical piece of art.
An additional fee for materials provided by your instructor for this workshop is estimated at $20.00 THIS FEE IS PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop. Material fees may change depending on the number of participants and price of materials at the workshop. *Payment by cash or check is required for materials fees.
