Students Please Bring:

  • Full color wheel of fabric (tightly woven regular quilting fabric): Red. Red-Orange, Orange, Yellow-Orange, Yellow, Yellow-Green, Green, Blue-Green, Blue, Blue-Purple, Purple, Red-Purple
  • Steam a Seam Lite Interfacing
  • Background Fabric 22x22 (neutral-white, cream, beige, grey, or black)
  • Mechanical Pencil, Olive’s Porch has some for student use
  • Sharp Scissors (for paper, and fabric)
  • Your sewing machine (optional) Olive’s Porch has Janome sewing machines to lend
  • Note taking materials
  • (Optional) A snack and/or water bottle. Filtered water is available in the classroom

Learn about using a color wheel as you make a simple raw machine appliqué design. The workshop will kick off with a mini trunk show conveying the basics of color theory. Students will learn about ways to try new color combinations and explore different palettes. Finished quilt will be approximately: 18 inches by 18 inches.

An additional fee for materials provided by your instructor for this workshop is estimated at $25.00 THIS FEE IS PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop. Material fees may change depending on the number of participants and price of materials at the workshop. *Payment by cash or check is required for materials fees.

About Instructor: Lee Chappell Monroe has been creating since she first discovered crayons at age two! She comes from a family of quilters and learned everything she knows from her mother, affectionately known as The Guru. With a love of color and bold, graphic shapes, Lee enjoys designing patterns and teaching all types of classes. She is trained in fine art and graphic design, and her work has appeared in multiple publications. Lee is also a BERNINA Ambassador, Craftsy and Creative Spark instructor, and an active member of the Triad Modern Quilt Guild. Lee is the author of Jump into Sewing, published by C&T Publishing. Lee lives in beautiful North Carolina with her dog, Agnes Piper. www.maychappell.com
