Ages: 18 and Up
Experience Level: This workshop is for confident beginners and lifetime stitchers. Students should be comfortable with threading and stitching with a size 10 hand embroidery needle.
Students Please Bring:
- Bring hoops and familiar tools (or use what the instructor brings)
- Bring a hoop that allows for working with both hands if you have one.
- (Optional) Bring magnifying glasses or other accessories, the instructor also recommends using prescription “reader” glasses when embroidering in close, tine space.
- Note taking materials.
- (Optional) A snack and/or water bottle. Filtered water is available in the classroom.
Hand embroidery a 3-D Butterfly! We will step into the world of wired Stumpwork embroidery by learning the processes behind this magical technique. Embroidery topics covered will be how to shape & cover wires, simple shading techniques, and assembling your butterfly!
An additional fee for materials provided by your instructor for this workshop is estimated at $20.00 THIS FEE IS PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop. Material fees may change depending on the number of participants and price of materials at the workshop. *Payment by cash or check is required for materials fees.

About Instructor: Sarah Roberts is a hand embroidery artist and instructor in Atlanta, GA. Although playing with fiber craft has been a lifetime love, she has been practicing and studying surface hand embroidery and other heritage textile arts for over a decade. Sarah teaches regularly at sewing studios, but she has also partnered with the Museum of Design Atlanta, Hills & Dales Estate, and other non-profit cultural organizations.
