Fall Landscapes in Pastel

All levels are welcome. No experience required.

Students Please Bring:

• The instructor will provide a teaching kit of pastels for use during the workshop. Kit use, paper, and other materials will be covered by the materials fee for this workshop.
• Students are welcome to bring any pastels or materials that they already have. Should you decide to continue, pastels and other materials are available for sale at Olive’s Porch.
• Note taking materials.
• (Optional) A snack and/or water bottle. Filtered water is available in the classroom.

Capture the explosion of warm, colored leaves against cool, blue skies to form a beautiful Fall landscape using pastels. Students will block in an underpainting in values of light and dark, and will finish their artwork with strong touches of soft pastels to capture a landscape with depth and life. Students can expect to take home two artworks.

An additional fee for materials provided by your instructor for this workshop is estimated at $35.00 THIS FEE IS PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop. Material fees may change depending on the number of participants and price of materials at the workshop. *Payment by cash or check is required for materials fees.

About Instructor: Suzanne DesLauriers has been a working artist for over thirty years. She was the 1996 Western North Carolina Creative Teacher of the Year and the 1999-2000 North Carolina Secondary Art Teacher of the Year. Suzy is a signature member of the Southern Appalachian Artists Guild and of the Southern Watercolor Society and the Southeastern Pastel Society. She has studied under many internationally known pastel artists including Elizabeth Mawry (author of “The Poetic Landscape”), Fred Sommers, Liz Haywood Sullivan (author of “Brilliant Skies and Water in Pastels”), Aline Ordman, Barbara Jaenicke, and Nancy Nowak. She has taught and exhibited her work in the Carolinas, Maine, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. She believes in unlocking the artist within each of us.
