Great British Baking: Puff Pastry (Morning)

Ages: 18 and Up (teens allowed if accompanied by an adult also taking the class)

One of the great British baking traditions is the flaky pastry case.  In this short session, learn to make a quick and easy rough puff pastry, flexible enough for a variety of uses.  We'll fill it with sweet things, like a custard, curd, or fruit.  We'll also use our pastry for making savory delights, including knibbles to gnosh at your next potluck or fete.  Take a brief break at the end of class to enjoy what we make!

Location: *This workshop takes place on the John C. Campbell Folk School Campus in the Cooking Studio, located in Davidson Hall  Campus Map *

Experience Needed: All levels are welcome. No experience required.

Students Please Bring:

• Apron, or clothes that can get dirty.
• Closed-toe shoes to protect feet.
• Hats, head coverings, and/or hair ties
• Note taking materials.
• Food storage containers, in case of leftovers!

An additional fee for materials provided by your instructor for this workshop is estimated at $35.00. THIS FEE IS PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop. Material fees may change depending on the number of participants and price of materials at the workshop. *Payment by cash or check is required for materials fees.

About Instructor: Susannah has been a teacher her whole life. In forests and on camera, in school libraries and in the kitchen, she enjoys creating new adventures for students of all ages. She became a home cook at age twelve, caring for loved ones with warm hugs, fried pies, and birthday cake. Susannah is the Coordinator for Cooking and Nature Studies at the John C. Campbell Folk School
