About Instructor: An Artisan in the International Guild of Miniature Artisans, I am a woodturner specializing in miniatures, specifically 18th and 19th century replicas in a scale of one inch to one foot. I research wood types and finishes in an attempt to get as close to the original object as possible, only in miniature. My work can be found in the following galleries in North Carolina - Nest Gallery in Black Mountain, Re.Imagine Gallery in Fairview, and in the gift shop at the Asheville Botanical Gardens. My work is also in the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.
I teach woodturning at UNC Asheville in SkillSet, a community outreach program that began in 2018 as a shop class for girls and now expands its reach to all members of the community. I served six years on the board of the Carolina Mountain Woodturners, two as vice president and two as president, the first woman to hold the position. CMW is the largest chapter of the American Association of Woodturners. I have demonstrated for clubs in Tennessee, North Carolina, Maine, and Virginia, and online for the International Guild of Miniature Artisans.
