All levels are welcome. No experience required.
Students Please Bring:
- Small package of Prismacolor Colored Pencils
- (Optional) A woodburning kit will be provided for workshop use, however, you’re welcome to bring one, preferably either The Walnut Hollow Creative Versa Tool (Amazon), or The Plaid Decorative Woodburning Set (Walmart)
- Note taking materials.
- (Optional) A snack and/or water bottle. Filtered water is available in the classroom.
Introduction to pyrography (wood burning). We will cover basic skills such as temperature control, shading, image transferring, and how to texture. Wood choices, safety, and how to finish, color (if desired), and preserve the pyrography design will also be covered. Students will come away with a completed owl and the knowledge to continue at home.
There will be a 1-hour lunch break. Bring a sack lunch or explore local dining options.
An additional fee for materials provided by your instructor for this workshop is estimated at $25.00 THIS FEE IS PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR at the time of the workshop. Material fees may change depending on the number of participants and price of materials at the workshop. *Payment by cash or check is required for materials fees.

About Instructor: After retiring from nursing three years ago Jan has been immersed in painting, including watercolor, acrylics, and mixed media. She has also developed a love for pyrography. A compassionate teacher, she is also a caretaker to her Father and Mother-In-Law. In her limited spare time, she has been teaching one-on-one lessons at the Arts Center in Blue Ridge and coordinates a local drawing group.
