In this beginner level class, students will have an opportunity to craft a woven cobweb broom and a turkey wing whisk broom with a woven handle. The class will include a guided meditation in the beginning; an opportunity to settle into the space before getting creative.
Detailed instructions will be given, and students will learn how to attach and weave whole pieces of broomcorn onto a wooden handle and stitch them round to make the cobweb broom. In the second half of class, we will make turkey wing whisk brooms and weave broomcorn stems to create a beautiful handle. Moderate upper body strength is needed for this class, and we will also require the use of our feet to keep tension.
There will be a 1- hour lunch break. Bring a sack lunch or explore local dining options.
